Who is the future QB1 in Las Vegas? Let me break it down with our top fits and options for Vegas but first, here’s a quick recap on the Raiders situation. With Antonio Pierce officially appointed head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders, a new path awaits for the silver and black. The Raiders are loaded on offense with Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers being the top two wide receivers and Tre Tucker being a promising third option. The Raiders also added TE Harrison Bryant from the Cleveland Browns this offseason and a veteran QB option in Gardner Minshew but he isn’t the long term solution. The Raiders backfield also has another young upcoming stud in Zamir White and veteran Alexander Mattison. The offense is ready for a young talented QB to come in and lead this offense to success.
Trading Up
The Raiders first have to make a decision to stay at pick 13 or trade up into the top 5. Guys like Jayden Daniels (LSU), Drake Maye (UNC) or even maybe JJ McCarthy (Michigan) could be off the board by the Raider’s selection. It would take quite a haul to trade up that high but if the Raiders are sold on a guy it shouldn’t stop them from making the move. Teams like the New England Patriots or the Arizona Cardinals could be suitable trade partners. Giving up picks thirteen, forty four and a first and third next season, could be enough to trade up and select their guy, but reportedly the price could be even more expensive.

It feels like Jayden Daniels has an interest in being other places..

Staying Put
The other alternative is the Raiders could sit at thirteen and see who falls down the board. Guys like Bo Nix (Oregon) and Michael Penix Jr (Washington) could be on the board for the Raiders at thirteen. They also might fall to the top of the second round and the Raiders could look to move up on day two. The draft is always a shocker with teams making moves we don’t see coming, so JJ McCarthy could also potentially be on the board at pick thirteen but is a bigger risk for Vegas.
Late Round Solution
The Raiders could look to build the defense a little bit with their first rounder and trade up in round two and get their guy. There are some other options for rounds two-four such as Spencer Rattler (South Carolina), Michael Pratt (Tulane), or Jordan Travis (FSU) but if the Raiders want to get their guy, they need to focus on a day one guy, or someone at the top of the second.
There are multiple different directions for the Raiders to go to find their future QB1, and we will find out later on tomorrow just exactly, what they plan to do, and even if they plan to address the future of the position this draft.

If the Raiders pick Penix it’ll be a mistake. He’s too old and injury prone for anyone to pick as anything but a backup with a chance to start.
